Commit to being a ‘flu fighter’ this winter
Over 100 staff at the three NHS Bradford district and Craven clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) have committed to being ‘flu fighters’ this winter by having their free flu jab.
Members of the public are also being encouraged to take up the offer of a free flu vaccination before winter sets in. Those who are considered to be in ‘at risk’ groups such as young children, pregnant women, older people and those with long term conditions should have received a reminder from their GP practice to attend a flu vaccination clinic. People in these groups are more likely to experience complications if they get the flu than others.
You can have their flu vaccination at their GP practice. Some local pharmacies also offer the service. The flu vaccine can help prevent people getting the flu, and if you do get the flu it’s likely to be milder and shorter-lived. By getting the flu vaccination, you can also help protect others around you, so it’s also important to get the vaccination if you care for another person or work in health and care.
